How much can I make with A+ and Net+ Certification in the IT field?

Can you really make money with an A+ Certification?

  • I'm thinking about getting my A+ Certification. I like to fix computers etc. Do you really need this to get a job in the field? And how much can I expect to make working ...show more

  • Answer:

yes you canget a job but the A plus certificate wont be the only thing that you will need for a job . A plus mainly covers the hardware in computers plus networking and os (mainly linux and windows) installations only . as of now the companies are filled with vacancies for it software developers but there are limited jobs available for computer hardware technicians . also may i remind you the salary for a hardware technician is less than the salary for a software developer . sometimes you may have to work a few months as trainee on a company to own a good salary in the hardware technician field .

I am currently searching for a job with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Science and I do wish I had technical certifications such as A+ and Cisco. Many job openings require a bachelor's degree, but prefer the degree along with a number of certifications. In fact, I took the A+ course in high school but was screwed out of the actual certification. We all paid money to the high school for the training and by the time the course was over the money had "mysteriously" disappeared. So our testing was not paid for and therefore invalid. The certification alone can get you a job at a small technician store or possibly a larger firm performing the same role, but those "computer fixer" stores can be an unsteady place to work. I used to work at a computer repair store and I was laid off because we didn't have enough business for more than 1 technician. I could have been hired to that position with only an A+ certification. It certainly is worth something and you will learn a lot of usable skills. It's not a college degree and I've been searching for a job for a year now *with* a college degree. But all employers recognize and prefer the A+ training course.

Alot of companies want people with certifications. Some won't even look at you if you have no college degree, no certification, even if you have self experience.
