How to manually install a virtual usb printer port in xp?

My computer has no printer port, all usb ports.OS widows xp.My printer is hp laserjet 5L.?

So I brought the printer cable with usb port. For the first time it prints. Later it doesn't print anything. I installed and deleted the printer several times. But nothing ...show more

If you go to start then settings and then printers, there you will see the list of printer queues installed on the PC, if you go to add printer and click next then select local printer annd select LPT1 port, this will pick up you usb cable, then proceed further it will then ask you for the driver so if you insert the CD from the printer and select the 'Have Disk' under the list of driver this will bring up a new window with a browsing option, click browse and select the drive with the CD and look for a file called AUTORUN and select this, now you will be back at the drivers section with a list of few compatible drivers for you printer, select as appropriate, You have now installed your printer the time saving way. first of all fully install your printer's driver with the CD which comes with the printer. then restart your computer and plug the usb cable into computer connecting with printer.Hp printer must have usb port for computer. Now turn off your printer for a second and then turn it On.Now your computer will detect your printer and if it asks to insert the CD then insert CD again otherwise now goto control panel and double click on the Printer and Faxes icon whether your printer is installed or not. If you are able to see that your hp printer is in there.It means it has to be worked.just open word program and give print command. I hope it will help you. Good luck.
