Why won't my printer scan?

Why wont my printer scan my documents?

  • my printer wont scan my documents that i need

  • Answer:

I have a Canon printer, and after placing the document on the glass, I first have to press the "Scan" button on the printer. Then the display tells me to go to my computer and run a program, something like "Windows Fax and Scan" (Windows 7) or some similar name (but a little different--I don't remember it) if Windows XP. If I then go and run that program, it detects that the printer (which is on the network with my computer) wants to scan, and it offers me a wizard to complete the scan. Of course, this assumes you have a multi-purpose printer that is also capable of scanning. Older printers might not do this. Hope this helps!
