What is the difference between a notebook and a laptop? What brand is best?

  • I'm in the process of getting a laptop but I'm sure what the difference is or which brand to get.

  • Answer:

Notebooks are lighter. See differences explained here http://diffen.com/difference/Laptop_vs_Notebook Brands are all over the place. I have used Gateway, Dell, Toshiba and HP. Be sure to get a long lasting battery (at least 6 cell). Gateway - I don't like their speakers. HP - I hate it. Dell - great but heavy Toshiba - great but sometimes the power cord attachment to the laptop gets loose and repairing it is very expensive coz you have to change the motherboard.

Notebooks and laptops are basically the same thing. It depends what you want your laptop for. If its for gaming, though I would just get a desktop for gaming, you could get Alienware or Dell, though Alienware is a bit pricey but is optimized for gaming. Dell or HP are pretty good brands, though I would stick with Alienware or Dell. If you don't want to game, and you want the full extent of creativity a laptop can give you, then you should go for Mac, I find that their softwares are better.
