How can I be interested in school and studying?

What is the best way for a high-school student interested in studying history to become more engaged with the subject?

• I.e. in the same way that many high-school students interested in mathematics or science do by independently studying textbooks, utilizing online resources, working on science projects, and learning how to code.

  In Indonesia, due to the curriculum, STUDENT (not the teacher) must make ppt (powerpoint) and present it in front of the class. Usually, student forms their own presentation group and when time comes, the teacher asked the presentation group a specific material to be presented. Why this method works in Indonesia? 1.  Student has outstanding skill on powerpoint and have what it takes to create a cool powerpoint. ( This includes animation and action button ) 2.  Relatively easy, each student will e-mail the material to the presentation group leader and the group leader will compile it. 3. The student do the talking, not the teacher. 4. The student has a good sense of humor and put their sense of humor on the powerpoint.
