Is cold water or room temp water better for you?

Is drinking ice cold water better for you then water lets say at room temp?

  • Answer:

YES IT IS BETTER. Drinking colder water makes you burn calories faster! Because the water is so cold, your body has to work more to burn it. Your body burns 17.5 more calories compared to room temperature water. It may seem like a small amount, but it all adds up!

It's not good or bad. Technically if you are talking about burning calories, if you drink ice cold water you will burn more calories b/c your body can't 'use' the water until it's body temp...so it has to work to bring it up to temp. I think that 'shocks' you system a little but there is nothing to say that it's significantly bad or good.

No, its worse.

I've heard that cold water, and food like ice cream, cools down your insides and requires your body to make energy. This burns calories, and therefore, could be healthy in the way that it is a form of negative calories.

NO It's worse for you. In fact, despite it tasting horrible, the best temperature for you to drink water at would be body temperature. Too cold and it can cause the body to go into shock, too hot and you can scald yourself

Weatherman

you want your water in between. I put a few ice cubes in my water to cool me down, but that is where we all go wrong. You don't want to cool your body down to much cause it could make u feel kinda sick. But try putting ur water bottles in the refridgerator that way it's in between.

No its worse They say cold water has a bad reaction with the oils in our body When we eat meat for instance and drink cold water after it makes the fat or oil harden.. Anyway thats what I heard. Hot or room temperature liquids are better for you especially with your teeth.

msknowitall

Only if the room temperature is high enough that you aren't cooling down properly. It''s like drinking hot water, no real health benefit, except if you need to add some heat to your body quickly.

Don't think so, in theory it's worse because it cools your body down more than water at room temperature because of the bigger difference in temperature comparing to your body.

Scientifically it can be said yes. But it can hurt your teeth i know it does to mine but yes its good drinking ice cold water and is better than room temperature. this is because bacteria and microbes tend to reproduce in damp and warmth temperatures. However hot temperature kills bacteria and microbes and cold temperature stop its from reproducing therefore science proves that drinking cold water is better. so this means that drinking cold water will make the chances of bacteria growing in your mouth very slim. Hence to your question yes it is better than drinking water at room temperature :) hope i helped :)
