How to transfer videos from video camera to mac Book Pro?

    Too bad you did not tell us which camcorder or iMovie version. Generally, miniDV tape requires a firewire (not USB) connection between the camcorder's DV port (not USB) and the Mac's firewire port (not USB). Flash memory and hard disc drive use USB, but the import process is different and may have you transcoding using MPEG Streamclip before iMovie can deal with it. DVD camcorders have you finalize the disc and using a drawer loading DVD drive (not slot loading) to get to the video files and using HandBrake to rip the DVD.
