Whats the difference between LCD, Plasma, Projection other tvs? which ones better and why?

Answer:
As said already, which is 'better' is entirely subjective. However, for gaming (which I do a lot), I find my plasma is far more enjoyable to use than my LCD for a number of reason. Plasma TV's have a far better response time, and so when I play I do not get any motion blur whatsoever, however when I use my LCD now I notice a slight blur in movement. Also, my plasma displays colours much better, and black levels are far better. There is always the concern of image retention when a static image is displayed for a long period of time, however when I get this it usually disappears within about 10 minutes of watching something else, and I only notice it on a white screen. Screen burn is different to image retention, and will cause permanent damage to your plasma, it will leave a permanent mark on the screen if a bright static image is displayed for too long. Plasma technology has come along way though, and this is very rare nowadays if you are sensible with your viewing (Don't leave the Sky menu on for 12 hours straight, for example) Projectors are fantastic, and make watching films and playing games an absolute joy. However, you will need to put some serious consideration into your viewing environment. The darker you can get a room, the better, otherwise without a screen to counteract the lack of darkness, you will find a very washed out picture with poor contrast. As I said, you can get 'high gain' screens which counter this by reflecting more light towards the viewer. I am afraid I don't know anything about projection TV's. All in all though, from my experience of owning projectors, LCD's and Plasma's, I would DEFINITELY recommend a plasma. A brief summary of why below: - Much better at displaying Standard Definition sources (such as Freeview or DVD) - Definitely the choice if buying a TV over 42" as SD TV on an LCD will look AWFUL - Better black levels - Better colour representation (with calibration) - Less motion blur/ghosting - Screen burn and image retention no longer a major issue This is based on owning a 50" Samsung Plasma, 32" Samsung LCD and an Optoma HD65 720p Projector. Hope this helps.

That's a can of worms. "Better" is totally subjective. I own both. I find the Plasma has a better picture but the LCD was cheaper.

According to the December 2007 issue of Consumer Reports, front projection TV is superior to LCD and Plasma TVs. Here's a bargain DLP projector which is currently selling as a refurb for around $560: http://www.amazon.com/InFocus-Screenplay-Front-Projector%252d-SP4805/dp/B00065H3XQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1225768501&sr=8-1 Good luck!
