Can coaxial cable be used to connect satellite dish to HD receiver?

I am upgrading from standard def Dish service to a HD receiver and want to know if all the cable needs to be replaced, or if the existing coaxial cable is OK.

if you want your picture to be hd you need to have an hd dish and an hd reciever and an hd tv. you must use an hdmi cable to connect your reciever to your tv. sorry but thats the way it has to be.
