If you have a good relationship with a bike shop, talk to them and see if they need an extra pair of hands during their busy season. Once they see what you can do you can get foot in the door, and gradually work your way up.

i work as a bicycle salesman and i love it it takes a little while to get to now all of the stuff about the bike (it's allot more complicated than you think). so if that's what you want to do than do it. if you can try to get into a bike shop with the smallest amount of staff because you will get a bigger say on what you want to change or do in the shop (in one of the staff meeting i proposed that we should go on a short holiday for the Christmas party... the boss said that's was a good idea and we went on a free 4 day holiday)
