Whats the deal with Home School Parents?

I am a homeschool mom in Ohio. We have been homeschooling for eight years. There is a lot of good information on homeschooling out there. It is a shame that you only reached those homeschoolers that are so narrow minded. Keep in mind that a lot of homeschoolers get a lot of grief regarding their choices. The matter of socialization is a hot button for sure. This is because this is the most common negative reason to provide for homeschooling. This is one that most people who are not associated with homeschooling latch on to. It is been my experience that socialization is the last thing that you need to worry about as a homeschooler. There are so many programs available that we find we have to limit our socialization time or we would have no time for actual schooling. Homeschoolers can still do Scouts, church activities, baseball, soccer and many homeschooling groups offer additional classes such as art, Spanish, quilting, science, debate and anything else you can imagine. Our local homeschool group even planned a "prom" for the kids. Many people choose homeschooling for one of two reasons, religious choices or a bad experience with public education. This is another reason for the poor response you have received. There are a lot of good and POSITIVE resources out there.
