How to remove a stock stereo from a ford explorer?

  • Answer:

would help to know the year..... 91-01 pull the fascia up after unbolting the screws that are around the radio (91-94 is basically covers half the dash, the 95-01s are just the center area) Pull radio with U-clips availabale at autozone and other places for cheap... insert till it clicks then pry outward on the clips and pull out... 02-06 just pull center area by digging it out and unbolt the 4 screws holding the radio in

You can get a tool from a garage or you can use two coat hangers to poke in the holes on the bottom of both sides.

stock stereo can be removed by locating "2" small holes on either side of the faceplate then inserting "2" rods you can use clothes hangers which were cut and straightened . This releases the retaining locks and it will pull out then disconnect the obvious wiring ....good luck
