  • Answer:

Each college/university has a website. There is a section that is usually labeled "admissions" or "prospective students" or something similar. It will include the admissions requirements and steps to take. Examples: https://admissions.arizona.edu/apply/Default.aspx http://www.uchicago.edu/admissions/index.shtml There are usually specific course requirements for university as well as GPA requirements. So you will need to check if you've taken the necessary coursework. For example - two years of a foreign language or particular science courses. If you are missing the courses from high school or have a low grade point average, then you can begin at a community college. You will start by taking assessment tests to see where you stand in english and math skills. After taking some "college prep" coursework, then you will begin to take courses that transfer to university (these are taught at the same level as a university course). Every college and university offers academic counseling. You make an appointment to see a counselor who goes over your goals with you and helps you to plan which courses to take and how to get into the program you want and/or earn a degree. You can use sites like Collegeboard and Petersons to look for colleges and find some that offer what interests you. Collegeboard http://www.collegeboard.com/student/index.html?student Petersons http://www.petersons.com/ Don't forget that your local public and college libraries have lots of career and college information and the librarians are happy to answer questions and help you find information. You may even be able to open a chat online through the library website.
