What is the career growth in SEO in India?

What are the career options for a woman in early 30s based in Bangalore, India looking for a career change?

  • A friend of mine is in her early 30s and is looking for a career change. She has a BE degree in a non IT stream. She is based out of Bangalore, India and will not be able to relocate. She is a great singer and a wonderful dancer but without any formal training in them. She is an avid planner and an awesome communicator. I know I am not writing a resume to highlight her strenghts but then I think it would add some perspective on which career could suit her. She is currently stuck in a career without much growth opportunities and is eagerly looking for a career change. I wanted to get all the available options from all you wonderful people out there who might have a broader perspective than me.

One of the first things your friend needs to address is if she wants to continue in the field where she is working now or not. The best part for her is that she does not need to relocate, Bangalore is also one of the melting pots of India like Delhi and Mumbai where you can find everything you want and need (except for a beach which is 5 min walk away). The mention of this makes me think may be she has other responsiblities and ties which bind her to Bangalore. Today there are many opportunities to get the satisfaction one needs from life. The age truly doesn't matter, what would be important if this friend of yours has kids, husband, parents, pet dog/cat etc to take care of. I am guessing she is on the technical side of the IT industry? If so, she can look for opportunities to involve herself in planning events and building her managerial skills in theĀ  next year or two. Then she could simply slide into the administrative or management positions in the same firm. If she is not already there. What she needs to think about: She wants to stay in the IT industry or not. She wants to pursue her passions, which are not in the IT industry, dance, singing etc? or not. She want a change of job roles, from technical position to management? Can she do it with her current skills itself? Does she need to do an MBA for that, because she falls short on practical experiences she can show as a complement for the formal MBA degree? Can she take up the role of a trainer for fresh graduates? Considering how you mention she is an avid planner and communicator, she could fit the position of a trainee for GETs and fresh recruits. Companies always require people who are good at this. It would be better if you, after discussing with her the above points, gave a feedback on what she thinks. Then it would be easier to explore other avenues.
