What is the easiest or hardest medical specialty?

    According to the directions (to specialties) that med school grads are currently headed, it would appear that the practice of Internal Medicine, ie: Internist or General Practitioner, is the hardest specialty to conquer because it encompasses the broadest spectrum of knowledge and requires daily study to stay abreast of all the fields it encompasses. I personally complimented my Doctor and thanked him, for choosing to stay in his field, even though it is not as financially compensatory as specialist fields can be. A good GP can route you to specialists when and if they are needed, but can treat you immediately in most cases. Fortunately, at 82, I am in better health than most people and need only an annual physical to stay on top of things. I work my body through healthy outdoor sports exercises of all kinds. Kayak, bike, swim, walk, lift weights, calithenics, etc..

First you have to get your MD. that is the most difficult part. After wards you specialize in something. That is actually the easy part. Dermatology is probably the easiest. For example, in cardiology, some body could be dying in your hands everyday. You make life and death decision every day. It can be mentally draining and punishing !
