Can u take an ap exam while in college?

  • Has anyone heard of anyone doing this. I want to save money/time but i wasn't offered these courses in high school and i was wondering if it would count as college credit if you ...show more

  • Answer:

Hello, As the other answerer said, you should look into CLEP and DSST exams if you're looking to earn some additional credit. Doing well on a CLEP or DSST exam can earn you the same amount of credit that you'd get if you took — and did well in — a semester- or year-long college course covering the same material. So, this is another way you can reduce your time/money to complete your college. While most colleges and universities grant credit for CLEP/DSST exams, there are some who do not. The policy for each school may vary. There are 2,900 institutions that grant credit for CLEP and each of them sets its own CLEP policy; in other words, each institution determines for which exams credit is awarded, the scores required and how much credit will be granted. Therefore, before you take a CLEP exam, check directly with your college or university to make sure that they grant credit for CLEP exam. Hope this helps! AP courses are just offered to high school students. It's similar to duel enrollment, but you learn everything as a high school course and the AP test is a review of what you learned that year. If you pass this test with a 3, you do not need to take this course in college because it gives you that college credit. Therefore, it is only offered in high school. After you graduate high school, you have to take regular college classes.

You might be able to but why don't you check with your local community college to see if they offer a class similar to the one your interested in if not that same class? You could also look at 4 year universities in your state to see if they offer it. Hope this helped.
