Is there any dual pane internet browser or browser extension for Mac OS X?
-
I am looking for a dual pane browser or browser extension that would allow me to view google search results in left pane and the actual site of in right pane. The right pane would allow more than one tab to be open. The closest I found to have this type of functionality was DevonAgent from DevonTechnologies but it was not that easy to use.

You could do this with a panel in Opera <= 12.16 [1]. Go to Google, then press the plus sign on the left hand panel (it may need to be toggled with the button in the lower left corner), and then select "Web Panel." This will ask you to create a panel for Google. Once you've clicked ok, you can click on its icon on the sidebar, and the Google site will be visible in its own pane. From there, you can resize the panel and open links in new tabs as needed. For completeness, I'll also mention that it's also possible to use what's called a follower tab. If you right click on the tab bar, there should be an option to "Create Follower Tab." The real advantage of this comes on Windows, where you can tile your tabs so that you can see more than one at the same time. Then, whatever links you open in the original tab (in this case, Google), will open instead in the follower tab. If the tabs were cascaded next to each other, this would also achieve your goal. (Again, since you asked specifically about Mac OS, you'll have to go with the first option.) The disadvantage is that now that Opera Software's stopped maintaining their Presto-based browsers, the performance is sometimes lacking. I still use it on a daily basis (in fact, I'm writing this answer in it), but every now and then you'll find a site that has sluggish scrolling or difficulty loading. Happy browsing! [1] I'm including the download link because, now that Opera's stopped maintaining the 12 series, it can be difficult to find the old versions. http://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/mac/1216/

You can try http://www.irradiatedsoftware.com/cinch/. This tiny app mimics W7 split screen feature: just drag a browser window to either left or right side of your screen and it will be resized to half screen. Very handy.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tile-tabs/ extension in Firefox gives the same effect.

For Chrome, there is ezLinkPreview and Split Screen. Unfortunately, both work by introducing frames inside current document, so they won't allow loading the sites which are prohibited to open in frames (like Google or GitHub; this is a global feature for security to prevent so-called clickjacking, nothing is broken in those extensions). There was also a Firefox extension called Split Screen, it seems to work on the level of window and could potentially load those secured sites. I am not quite into Firefox so cannot tell for sure if this extension is any good.
