What kind of amp should I use for a 15'' MTX 9500?

2 15" l7s or 2 12" mtx 9500's? what would hit harder/sound better?

  • as of now i own a wired down to 2 ohms 15" l7 with a ported box and a kicker zx1000.1 amp.and i am upgrading my system to either: 2 15" dual 4 ohm woofers to be a 1 ohm load. or 2 ...show more

  • Answer:

The 15"s have more surface area than the 12"s, which would mean they will move more air, but when you take into consideration the brand of subwoofer, the box being used, and the amp being used, you can drastically change the performance of each sub. I have installed both, and with a ported/slotted box, the MTX 9500s are without a doubt the best choice. They are built better, last longer, and sound the best.

Other answers

The last answer was plain wrong. how a sub hits is dependent on install more than anything else. That being said, if you have room for the 2 15's, they will probably be louder in the right enclosure. I would not give the either sub too much more than rated power.
