Why is England called England? Why is they called ...land but Wales is not Walesland?

It's called England after the people from Angelm, Germany who took it over, before it became black

I'm honestly no sure of the answer, but I am appalled by the answers you are getting. Her son is nine! And he's curious! Londoners - would sound stupid calling them Lonpudlians (Liverpudlians) or Luncunian (Mancunian). England - is the name given the country. There aint that many countries with land on the end e.g. America, Wales, Brazil, Iraq, Australia, etc. London - Is not a country because it is too small and is in England.

It's called England after the Angles, a germanic people prevalent in the North East of England & South East Scotland. That's where the name came from, not just it's called England because it is (Joe R).

Englands just called England because that's what it was named, and london is a city because it's the capital of England, londoners are called that because they have a london accent, like australians are called aussies. and i guess the leeds thing just never caught on :)
