At 14 in the fall you have lots of options. It's kinda late for lawn mowing but you are in perfect time for cleaning gutters, raking leaves, and chopping firewood. People also set out pine straw. If you live up north, snow blowing and digging out the cars also pays well. We have some kids in the neighborhood that offer to take larger items to the dump in their truck (though they are 16 but you could do it with a friend who is 16 or your parents help). At Christmas time, offer to help string outdoor lights. With Halloween you might offer a trick or treat program where you babysit on Halloween and take the kids trick or treating. Babysitting and petsitting are also an option. You can also sell stuff--my friend made mailboxes at 14. Buy lumber and plain black mailboxes. Refinishing furniture is a good skill to learn. Are you kidding? Forget about a cruise costing $1000 if you dont have a job. In fact, dont even consider it. You admited your only 14 and cant work. Money is not going to fly down from the sky into your pocket. Wait till your old enough to get some sort of employment and put a certain amount of money in the bank. Make it your cruise fund. Dont touch it for any other reason. I also suggest to try a less expensive cruise. With limited funds, its the smart solution. Start throwing coins into a 5-gallon empty water bottle.
