    are you ready for long long hours, being away from home for months and months of time. being happy and nice and helpful to strangers all the time you are on shift? the shifts are sometimes 6 to 7 days a week, many split shifts. the pay is very low by Most american standards. i would contact the cruiselines to get their requirements for the jobs you are seeking. if you can talk to some of the employees who have had assignments onboard the ships. best wishes with your job search. cruisecritic.com

You are better off working on a cargo ship; more personal freedom and much more money. Requires some training, but if you're serious, it's worth it. Cruise ship jobs are only good for foreigners where the pay is actually considered good money.

Go to the cruise line office if you live in an area that has an office. You can also go to the cruise line websites such as www.carnival.com and on the lower right of the front page is a section named "about Carnival' and in that section a link about jobs. Working on a cruise ship requires a contract for so many months. The pay is not wonderful and you work many hours, but the tips are pretty good and you get to see a lot of places. You do not get leave in each port of call, so don't expect to see everything the first trip. There are places all over the ship to work and depending on experience, you may have to start at the bottom and work up. GOOD LUCK!
