    In the United States Marine Corps our Martial Arts Program involves "Body Hardening" exercises where one Marine would hit the other in sensitive areas, like the inside of your groin area and the inside of your forearms. As these do harden the specific body parts, the main thing, like you mentioned, is getting used to the pain. Endurance can be all in your mind, from my experience mind is stronger than your body. Just know your limits.

Just keep going to class, exercising, ect. Your pain level will rise, ability to expend energy, ect. You have to keep an eye on your body. If your shins hurt, don't throw kicks till they feel better.
