What current members would benefit from Turkey's accession into the EU and how would those members benefit?
-
I'm doing a project on reasons why Turkey should be in the EU and I need five specific countries and how Turkey's membership could benefit them.

Answer:
Turkey's inclusion to the EU would bennefit every member nation's trade. Turkey has so many goods that the rest of Europe wants. Luxury items like textiles for example. It would benefit Turkey's tourism industry, and benefit western European tourists who could then travel freely to Turkey. It could also benefit human rights campaigners in the rest of Europe. If Turkey were included, the rest of Europe could set conditions for its inclusion, such as more rights for the Kurds. If you want countries, Cyprus' Turkish half would benefit from a fairer deal. At the moment most of Cyprus' trade is with fellow EU member Greece, Cyprus is begging for easier political routes to Turkey. It would also help Cyprus to have more open travel with Turkey. Germany is a country that's really enjoyed having a large Turkish comunity. They benefit German industry, and relations between the two countries are brilliant. Turkey's inclusion in the EU would only strengthen those great ties. Poland is crying out for workers! Low skill or high skill, they just need workers at the moment. So many people of working age have used the EU to travel to other nations to work, that Poland has a real shortage of workers. It's unlikely that Poles would travel much to Turkey to work, but Poland could really pull in some much needed labourers from Turkey. Great Britain's got a free health system. That's brilliant, but it requires a lot of labour and money. Extra doctors and nurses from Turkey would lessen the strain on the NHS, as medical staff from other countries have already helped it. Though relations between Turkey and Greece haven't been great in the past, Greece's population is ageing. The same can be said for countries like Italy. In 10 or 20 years they'll have a massive shortage of working-age citizens. With Turkey's high birth-rate, these countries can get a constant stream of Turkish workers, to keep their econemies alive. Hope that helps.
