Just because you can't tell exactly when day turns into night does not mean that night does not exist. Did you know that there are (at least) three definitions of twilight: astronomical, civil, and nautical? Man made warming has been going on for over a century. It was not going on five hundred years ago. Climate change didn't actually begin in the 50s, but we became aware of the possibility in around 1958. It is impossible to know when climate change began and most people attribute it to the industrial revolution.

The IPCC does not make any claims as to when anthropogenic global warming started. What the IPCC does is compile the scientific evidence and reports out on the evidence. The evidence is across many different fields in science and is reviewed by committees that are comprised of scientist, industry and governments.

They don't know either. The purpose of the IP CC was to find out "if" anthropogenic CO2 was causing the Planet to warm. They can only mathematically calculate a maximum of 0.25C warming effect (since 1880) that can be attributed to human causation at this time. Since they "can" tie temperature increases to humans, then it would be feasible for them to somewhat guestimate the beginning of the warming to the Industrial Revolution and that started in the 1700s sometime. The 0.25C figure is probably double of what the truth is.

IPCC has to continually change their 'starting date' because most of their information is based on questionable 'science' and data. There is serious question about whether the climate variations are 'man made' or are a natural cycle that has been happening for millions of years. The IPCC have to maintain their stand, because they are very high salaries, and don't want to lose their jobs

Well they are wrong. It was actually started in 1991 when the Club of Rome wrote their book titled "the first global revolution". Trick question. AGW began when we started putting extra CO2 into the atmosphere- the industrial revolution of the late 19th century. Of course, this neatly coincides with the end of the Little Ice Age, but that doesn't matter. On a related note, the latest IPCC document doesn't name an equilibrium climate sensitivity. It also expands the range of potential warming to include 1 C by the end of the century. I strongly suspect they figured out all the data pointed to a mild rise in surface temperatures, but they couldn't come out and say it for fear of making their whole organization irrelevant.
