Is it difficult to transfer to NYU?

Would I be able to transfer from NYU to GMU's School of Management?

  • Richard, I do appreciate your answer but it is simply a regurgitation of something I have seen many times before. Hi. I was a freshman at NYU and got a 2.75 at the end of the year. I did a semester at Northern Virginia Community College, took three 3 credit classes, and got a 4.0 for the semester.  So my cumulative GPA is now a 3.0. I took two marketing classes, and got positive recommendations from both of my marketing professors. One of my marketing professors at NVCC is also on the faculty at Mason. Mason says that they cannot look at my high school transcript, but that they did look at my IB Diploma. I've also been participating in on-campus activities at Mason. I've convinced myself that I'm not going to get into Mason because assuming the worst I strangely how I cope with situations out of my control. I'm applying to the school of Management for marketing. I know that I can get into Mason while not getting into the School of Management initially. This is for Spring 2013. By the way, it's not so much a question of if I will get into Mason, it's a question of how soon I'll get into Mason. Guaranteed admissions agreements, y'all!

  • Answer:

If you are already guaranteed admission (something like Pathway from NoVA) then you will probably get in... How soon?  Usually the semester you applied to. Here is the application procedure I got from this page: http://som.gmu.edu/undergraduate/apply-to-bs-status/ or refer to http://catalog.gmu.edu/preview_program.php?catoid=15&poid=6032&returnto=1032 School of Management Application Requirements Acceptance into the School of Management bachelor of science program is academically competitive based on applicants' cumulative GPAs from all institutions attended.  In addition, students must: Successfully complete at least 48 credits with at least 9 credits earned at Mason; Successfully complete all courses taken in the semester of application with a grade of "C" or higher and be in good academic standing; and Successfully complete the following application courses with a grade of "C" or higher (students are responsible for all pre- & co-requisites): MATH 108 - Introductory Calculus with Business Applications (or MATH 113 - Analytical Geometry and Calculus I), ACCT 203 - Survey of Accounting (or ACCT 204 - Honors Survey of Accounting) OM 210 - Statistical Analysis for Management (or OM 211 - Honors Statistical Analysis for Management) SOM 301 - Business Models: A Communication Approach Students are responsible for the application requirements in effect at the time of application to the School of Management and should check this website for changes to these requirements. The requirements are not related to the student’s catalog year.
