Some of the mentioned methods will prove irritating. Putting a brink in your toilet will result in a less powerful flush. Using a faucet that only work when you apply pressure is very annoying, I'm sure most of us have encountered these stupid things in public restrooms. Making a rain barrel attracts mosquitoes, which invites disease. Using a modern dishwasher will use less water than washing dishes by hand. The only really feasible suggestion was to reuse grey water to irrigate your lawn. Of course this requires something of an investment and water is so cheap that you'll never recoup what you paid for it.

i save water bye filling up my dishwasher instead of washing by hand. when i shower i shut the water off when shampooing, scrubbing and shaving when washing my hands i first wet them turn the focet off, clean then rince and make sure the focet doesnt drip when washing my mouth i use a cup, i fill it up and i dont turn on the focet when i mop i use the swiffer wet jet that way i dont have to continue changing th water

Everyone has already posted some great suggestions. Another cool option is the evolve roadrunner shower head. It's low flow and has a cool little switch so that once the water gets to full temp it shuts down the flow to a trickle until you turn in back on. Put a brick in your toilet tank. Install a tap (faucet) that must be held open to deliver water. Wash dishes in the sink instead of in a dishwasher.

With conservation the most obvious is starting with yourself at home. Do you leave the water running. Are you doing laundry to much. Is your toilet bowl conservation filled.
