Answer:
If you have been belting out song rather than singing from your diaphragm you may have damage to your vocal chords, but you will have had symptoms if you have, the early signs are constant coughs and or sore throats, followed by your voice cracking on the high notes this will be followed by nodules on the vocal chords. if you have had none of these signs you have not yet done any harm. if you are still at the coughs and or sore throats stage no real harm has been done yet however if your voice has stated cracking on high notes it would be advisable to see a doctor to check that nodules are not forming and to rest your voice until your doctor tells you can sing again. if you want to avoid this damage get yourself a coach who will teach you to sing from the diaphragm and not to belt. drink plenty of water at room temperature, avoid dairy products especially cheese, and foods that coat your throat such as chocolate and avoid fizzy drinks before singing. remember that belting can cause damage and the time it takes varies for each person, you could end up in hospital. finding out the correct singing techniques will avoid all the problems. good luck.

I don't think you've damaged your vocal cords too much, well any more then normal for the average person.well in not sure if they'll repair themselves seeing as how that's not my field, but of you're really serious about going into singing, its never too late to start caring about your vocal cords by drinking water keeping your throat warm etc. Well good luck! ps. here's a tip, before you have to sing for an audience or for some sort of audition (like an hour or two before), stay away from dairy products like milk, it makes singing harder and will hurt your vocal cords. But keep in mind you still need ot take dairy products to stay healthy. :P

There's no way of knowing unless someone hears your voice or sees your vocal cords.

sorry but you're not going to like the answer: you should have looked after your voice better! the keeping throat warm thing is rubbish but rest mucked your voice up. you should always sing from your stomach if you want a good sound, ground yourself and fill your stomach with air. If you're lifting your shoulders when you breathe, it's wrong!
