Why on Thanksgiving day we used to eat turkey?

I want to know the reason, why TURKEY? and have you cooked Turkey by yourself? how was the taste?

Indians and Pilgrims shared turk. I have roasted turks, brined and roasted, deep fried, smoked... hundreds (had a restaurant). I love Thanksgiving!

b/c the pilgrims and the indians people all cought a turkey for the first time and the pilgrims thanked the indians for helping tem and they had a feast. they also ate other stuff like goat and stuff. but thats why they call it THANKs GIVING they gave and the pilgrims thanked oh and this was a very long time ago
