Why are the days for American thanksgiving and Canadian thanksgiving different?

So with American Thanksgiving being in two days?

I started today by boiling the yams and making the pumpkin pie filling. tomorrow my mom will make the crust and bake off the pumpkin pies and Thursday she will candy the yams I boiled.

I always begin cooking on Wednesday morning. :) Although... I do sometimes do a bit of preparation on tuesday, but this year I (hopefully) won't need to.

it so culture thanksgiving is not a big thing like christma eve or chritsma day . It see that a lot of individual look it like get a family together , I usually dont go out for thanksgivimg but this year I goimg to my mom house , she wont be here for christmas.
