The occult, according to wikipedia, is defined as "knowledge of the unknown", but the colloquial meaning means "knowledge of the paranormal". Fundamentally if you're a jazz musician you have to have some knowledge of the unknown, cause that's what you tap into to make the amazing sounds you're capable of. Anyway man...Phish. Unless you consider drug use "occult" (lol). Uh...some more generic fusion/jam bands you might be able to get on board with: Disco Biscuits, Moe, Galactic, Jeff beck, John McLaughlin, The Meters, Neville Brothers..yeah.
