How expensive are piccolos?

Piccolos: wood, plastic, plastic&metal, metal...which is best and less expensive?

    Chances are good that both the most expensive and the least expensive will be wood. Unless you're really after wood, I wouldn't go that route. Metal (silver plate) can be cheap, but at low prices I'd guess that the quality isn't there. Resin (plastic) instruments are really coming into their own. The bodies produce a warmer, less shrill sound. A $200 instrument isn't going to knock your socks off, and quality might not be what you expect.
