I have a swollen eye from allergies.

Eyelid is slightly swollen, eye is scratchy feeling and sort of sore. Allergies or infection?

  Make an appointment with an ophthalmologist or an optometrist. It could be conjunctivitis (pink eye) which is very contagious, some other type of infection, allergies or just an irritation. No one can really diagnose your problems without an exam. You would probably get a faster appointment with an optometrist. Most optical shops (stores that sell eye glasses) employ the services of an optometrist. Call first to make sure you the optometrist is in and can see you. Everyone should have a comprehensive eye exam every few years. Most of us don't see an Ophthalmologist or optometrist until we have a real problem, which might have been prevented or minimized if we had regular exams. In order to maintain good eyesight, do not smoke and try to avoid second hand smoke, eat a healthy diet with lots of red, yellow and green vegetables and see an eye specialist every few years.
