What are some ideas for a mad-scientist Haunted House?

Ideas for a haunted house?? Static props, an or live scenes I can create fairly cheaply?

It's big but visually stunning. It can also be easily adapted into a transformation scene with the help of another actor and some dimmers This can be done on the cheap, and the internet is just crawling with instructions.
