How do you write a cover letter on the internet when you apply for a job within the company that you work for? How long should a cover letter be? What should be included in a resume?

Answer:
I am in the process of hiring. I HATE that I receive resumes and cover letters (if I even get them) in the body of the email. There should be one attachment (the resume and the cover letter). Another major problem I have are resumes and cover letters that are NOT FOR THE JOB that is being applied for. Each resume/letter should be written for the job opening.
