How to build a good resume?

How to build an ideal resume?

  • especially when one has limited or no experience?

  • Answer:

I'm in the same boat.To the best of my knowledge I give some tips. 1)Give title as "Resume" and not as "bio-data" or "CV" (The title CV is preferrable for only long resumes with work experience details ).It should be positioned centre. 2)The subsequent information must be your contact information inclusive of contact address followed by telephone no. & then e-mail.Following this draw a line. In Ms-Word to draw a line there are shortcut ways. For instance a single dark line could be constructed by typing three underscore symbols without space, followed by pressing enterkey.Try also = , - symbols for dotted , double lines etc.( Reason behind this sugestion is that some emloyers may get vexed (annoyed) if they have to turn pages for contacting you in case you are selected for second stage of interview which may be on a different date. 3)Then the immediate part to follow is "career objective " which may be as " seeking a ____ position in a dynamic organization " 4)Next section is " Work experience ".As you are a fresher it may be as "Fresh graduate who adores team spirit, quality & perfection with ability of adapting to changing environment ". 5)Preferred places of work 6)Educational details ( in reverse chronological order, that is,first start with your M.C.A and proceed towards 12'th and 10'th class in school.Advisable to use table facility in Ms-Word.) 7)Technical skills Languages - OS - Appln's - 8)Project work mention title, duration, team size, implementation (front & back end),venue, evaluation. 9)Certification ( On-line exams etc ) if any include without fail. 10)Addn'l information section Relevant skills.Include those which reveal erudition in English language(from your previous q & a on yahoo ans.it seems your hobby is reading English novels, mention it without fail),creativity, leadership skills, time management etc.For ex. I have included "Third prize in on-the spot essay writing competition among ___ participants during school final" etc. Finally, don't xerox resumes for obtaining multiple copies,it may not sound professional.Only use print-outs from computer.Avoid using jargons, fancy fonts, colours.Avoid usage of capital letters except for headings,as it may be perceived as being unpolite. I have purchased a CD which is exclusively regarding resume preparation and GD.I am ready to send some useful information from it on solicitation from your side.
