Would you live in Nice, France?

Can one obtain Monaco residency and live in Nice, France?

  • If I were a billionaire and got Monaco Residency, would I me able to drive 5 mins to Nice every night and just live there and have the tax haven benefit?

  • Answer:

Absolutely not. You must be a resident of Monaco to benefit from the tax haven benefit. If you spent every night in Nice, you would be a resident of France and would fall under its tax regime. One thing you could do is live part of the year in Monaco - check the minimum time spent away from France to count as a non-resident; be sure it matches the minimum time required in Monaco to count as a resident. And voila!
