Yardman lawn mower is smoking...whats wrong?

My riding mower runs fine when on level ground...but when I mow across a hill slanted to the side the mower starts to sound like it's choking and wants to cut of...also white ...show more

You can't ride the hill at a slant because all the oil goes to one side of the motor and it will blow.. You have to go straight up and down the hill! Your lucky it hasn't blown yet if the smoke has been barreling out!!

If your mower engine has PCV you are probably filling the tube that runs from the crankcase to the intake with oil rather than vapor when you are sidehilling. Try running the tractor the other direction on the hillside and see if that makes a difference.
