  You really don't need restaurant experience to get a waitressing job. Just a good attitude and the ability to get along in public. Go to the book store and get some books on wine, cooking and spirits. Read up to get educated so you'll be knowledgeable on basic cooking terms and characteristics of the types of wine. "The Wine Bible" by Karen MacNeil is a good book for this. I bought and read this when I started working on a cruise ship. Getting a job is a numbers game in that the more applications you put in, the better the chance of you getting hired. Dress to impress, even when you are just asking for and returning an application. You never know, you might be talking to the person making the hiring decisions. Good luck!
