  You can do anything. There is much more to healthcare than nursing (although I'm not trying to undermine the profession). -MD -Pharmacist -Dietitian -Physiotherapist -Speech Language Pathologist -Audiologist -Occupation Therapist -Respiratory Therapist -Diagnostic Medical Imager/Sonographer/Ultrasound Technologist -Medical Radiation Technologist -Psychologist -Addictions Counsellor -Hospital Social Worker All of these jobs pay decent/well and involve direct patient care. Other opportunities that require less education. training time, and/or provide less pay and/or patient interaction include (in other words a possible stepping stone while in school to move on to something else): -Plebotomist/Lab Tech -Dietary Technician -Sterile Processing Technician (sets up trays for surgery and cleans surgical tools). There is MUCH more out there than nursing, if nursing is not your career choice. While nursing may have been one of those limited job opportunities for women back in the day, now the sky is the limit. Technology has also created more jobs. It's fine to think outside the box!
