What is it like being a nurse?

What are nurse practitioner jobs like?

  • I want to be a nurse practitioner, but what's a good specialty for being a nurse practitioner? I was thinking about a family nurse practitioner, what would a day be like as one?

  • Answer:

NP's do the same work as as a physician and usually work under one. NP's and PA's are pretty much the same thing. A NP can make a diagnosis, order tests, and prescribe meds. Ofter nurse practitioners have a masters in nursing or a BS with extended schooling. Often they are seen and used in clinics and answer to the physicians on duty. They can write prescription but review this with The MD. NPs as they are called or clinical nurse practitioners. I have worked with many in the county jails and the prisons. Much can be learned from them. My personal internist has a nurse practitioner who works with him. She is great. Hope this is helped. Take care and good luck.
