  • Answer:

It doesn't matter if you are a male nurse. They don't hire based on gender.Nursing jobs are in extremely short supply right now. It's hard to say what it will be like down the road.Your best bet is to go for your BSN straight away.

In larger metropolitan areas, you are correct.....there may be more jobs requiring a BSN versus an Associates degree in Nursing (ADN). However, if you are willing to travel there are most likely rural areas in the U.S. that do hire RN's with an ADN. I would say that New York City is probably tougher with job competitiveness? You may want to look at some jobs in the rural south in states like Georgia, South Carolina or Alabama. I like the job search http://www.indeed.com Just for kicks, I put in the job field "RN with associates degree", and I just tried South Carolina, and the jobs I briefly looked at required either an ADN or BSN. Also you may want to check out VA jobs. http://www.usajobs.com They have a job position titled Nurse I Level I and the qualifications are an Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience. If you put in "Nurse I Level I " in the job search you will get job vacancies nation wide Good luck!
