What are the pros and cons of a pharmacist?

I need help deciding: become a nurse or pharmacist? Help me weigh the pros and cons?

  • Which would you pick and why? I'm torn between the two and i need someones outside input on their opinion of the pros and cons of each job!

  • Answer:

Would you want to be working with patients on a more one on one basis? Drawing blood, cleaning up vomit, changing diapers, administering meds, working under doctors....etc. Would you prefer to work in a pharmacy where you prepare medications and give them out? No messy patient care, bigger paycheck. Ironically I am a nursing student.

Would you rather go to school for a few years or 6 to 8? Nursing school could be from only 2 to 4 years. If you like working with people hands on i would go into nursing. If you don't pharmacy would be more of your thing.

I'd definitely go with the whole pharmacy thing. You don't have to take care of fussy people/children, clean up nasty things, or have such long or possibly crazy shifts. Pharmacists make more money, definitely work in a clean environment where messes like vomit and blood shouldn't be a problem, and I think it'd be less stressful also.
