Different types of nursing?

  • This may sound like a stupid question, but what are ALL the different types of nurse's, how long do they have to go to school and how much money do they make. Also, which ...show more

  • Answer:

Not sure if you mean types of nursing degrees or areas of specialty. There are only two types of basic patient care nurses: the LPN/LVN (about 1 year in a vocational school) and the RN. Then the RN can have either a bachelors degree (4 years) or an associates degree (2+ years). (Advanced practice nurses are no longer patient care nurses, so I am leaving them off). AREAS that nurses can work however, are all over the place. Nurses that work with children are pediatric nurses, labor & delivery nurses (also called things like perinatal nurses or similar) work in hospitals in that department. There are just too many areas to really list here. But all are usually some sort of RN for the most part. Their pay depends on whatever is the going rate in your area at that facility. To get more info; look at the web sites for some schools of nursing in whatever area you live in.
