What kinds of nurses are there?

Nurses....what kinds of hours/days did you work when you first started?

  • I know its going to vary.....but i heard for most beginning RN's you usually work 12 hour shifts like 3 days a week. ?? What did yours look like

    I worked ( and still work) mostly 8 hour day shifts. I sometimes work 12s and sometimes evenings and nights.

I started on a medical floor at a hospital working 3 days a week 12 hour shifts to include every other weekend. I had to take a night position because all the day positions were full. I actually enjoy this schedule and 6 years later I am still doing it, I just switched to days.
