What do I need to study in order to become a Police Officer?

  • I really want to become a police officer when I am older though the site only gives me sample questions. I am only allowed a maximum of 3 chances to pass the paper. please help.

  • Answer:

Over the years in England and Wales requirements have changed. There are basic test you read a report ina newspaper and you have so long to put it in your own words.I would look at drama as role playing is an important part of the test also get fit as all forces have a basic fitness test. If you contact the force you would like to join the police personnel can give you all the Information you require. Most now want you to have a current clean driving licence but then some do not? All depends on the force. Please see the link it may be of help to you.

you don't have to study anything, you don't need a degree, but you should get a degree just in case you change your min. In order to be a Police Officer you go through like a 12 week police academy, and they teach you stuff you need to know on the job. You will do alot of Physical fitness. OR you can join the police explorer Program at your local police station. Its a Program for 13-21 year old to help give a better understanding of the job.

You don't really need any particular qualifications. A degree would be helpful but not essential. I have 2 friends in the police, one did a business degree and the other one a french one. However, go on to this website: www.prospects.ac.uk it helps by telling you what qualifications you need for what jobs. Good luck!

I'm UK...so i can only answer from this country! There is a book available which gives you ideas as to what is expected of you. Costs bout £16 If you are still in school just passing your GCSE's with a reasonable grade would do. I know at my local college they were running a course alongside the local police, so have a look on your local college website. I think they look for people skills, like not being discriminatory by gender, sexuality, and race. Some entry level questions will be there to catch you out, so be aware. They also look for level headed people, who are going to behave accordingly in a dangerous situation...mainly common sense Best of luck with your future xx
