What is it like being a machinist as a career?

I am about to go for a program that gives me a certificate in precision machinist. Good career or no?

In spite of many manufacturing jobs having been sent to China there is still a good demand for machinists in the USA. It is a little thin now fut half the machinists will be retiring in the next 6-8 years and there will be a shortage before too long. You may mot be at the same company your whole career but machinists can still make a good living.
