Offence code ts50 - failure to comply with a traffic sign - penalty 3 points. Of course it is lawful to impose the points, you committed a driving offence and deserve everything you get if you can't see or ignore a no entry sign. f

3 pts for you and a fine

The points actually ARE obligatory as specified. If you choose to argue in front of a magistrate, be VERY prepared to explain why you should be treated different from everybody else who comes before them with a similar situation (and got no "break"). --- Kasey C, PC guru since Apple II days I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!

I take it that you have already received your punishment and regard the points imposed as being grounds for an appeal .If this is the case ,you should be very aware that the magistrate/s/clerk of the court are aware of the discretionary powers they have, the points,in this case are mandatory.By all means question it,but,if you proceed with an appeal, you can receive a greater sentence,as is often the case.I would advise taking your lumps and learning from it,this is considered to be a serious offence, due to the fact that,if your concentration was this bad,you could easily have had a more serious incident, its just a matter of degrees.

The sign said "NO Entry" but you "entered" anyway... idiot! Now you want to argue the punishment???? How do you remember to breath???? Signs are put up for a reason... you ignore them, you pay the price. If a sign says "Do Not Touch", do you touch it anyway... just to find out why? Of course not; you read it and you do what it says because you know the consequences could be VERY bad! The same applies to traffic signs. If the light is red, even if no one is crossing and there are no other cars in sight, you stop. No arguments! If the sign said "No Parking" you wouldn't risk parking there because you'd probably get fined, clamped, or towed. You broke the law and now you have to accept the penalty... namely 3 points.

The state in which you reside states the penalties for violation of traffic laws. As a driver's license holder for that state, you agree, by signing your license or signing FOR your license, that you agree to abide by those laws and accept those penalties. You violated one of those laws - and the fact that the situation involved wasn't dangerous - it COULD have been dangerous. You don't get to play Russian Roulette with your traffic laws and only pay the price when things ACTUALLY get dangerous. Yes, it's totally lawful to sock you with three points.

It's "Failing to comply with traffic sign (excluding 'stop' signs, traffic lights or double white lines)" and does attract 3 points (plus a fine). Contrary to RTA section 94 (3A)

We have all done it but not been caught. you've done the crime so pay the fine and take the points. A little story. A man parked on a double yellow line at two in the morning. As he came back to his car he saw a policeman taking a note of his number. He said to the policeman," Honest officer I was just looking for a S.H.I.T!" The policeman looked up and replied, " Aye lad and you've found one. Is this your vehicle? "
