The purpose of a nonprofit is to provide services to its clients, members, or the public. A charity is only one of the 31 legal categories of nonprofits. The others include schools, labor unions, trade associations, credit unions, mutual insurance and benefit companies, cemeteries, rural electricity cooperatives, and more. No state is better than any other. No city in any state is any better The most important thing in creating any business is to consider the market. The best location would depend on exactly what kind of service that organization would provide and where exactly that kind of service is needed. Would it would make any sense to put a service to farmers in the middle of Los Angeles? Or an organizatiion working to end urban gang violence in the middle of Kansas?
