  Yes, it's hard. You deal with a lot of people who just have no idea how to read ("but the sign said...") and there's almost always at least one person who is mean -.- eh, sales associate is more you help people out and show them around, give them advice, etc. You're not really paid on comission (at least most places, cell phone places and jewelers I think are but yeah) so don't worry about that so much, but you have to like people, or at least pretend you like people.
