Can employers force you to work on your day off?

I have a very abusive boss at work,I find it extremly hard to force myself to go to work every day.?

  • It is very difficult to swallow the verbal abuse, intimidation and undermining comments every day.....I just have to work for another 2 weeks but It is very very hard for me to stand ...show more

  • Answer:

its two weeks...do your best..i totally understand..i gave my boss a months notice and it was the month from h-ll...if it gets too bad leave..but what i would do...is write them a letter...the mighty pen is very powerful..put down in the letter the reason why yu are leaving...the abuse etc...forward the letter to the higher ups...go as high up as you can...best bet...stay focused and stick out the two weeks...get paid...still write the letter...just to make yourself feel better...and be done with them...

I wish lawsuits were free, but generally lawyers want to be paid, and it's hard to find a lawyer that will take a case like this unless they feel pretty good about winning because of overwhelming evidence. Stand up and realize that you don't deserve to be treated like this! No one does. Make it very clear to as many people as you can before leaving as to why you are leaving, and who is doing this to you. Write letters, leave voice mails, and the best of all....send a single email to everyone in the chain of command that spells things out (I've seen it done, and it's quite embarrassing to the recipients). Let them also know that you will try to keep in touch with people who work there, and if anyone needs a witness in the future for a lawsuit, that you'll testify on their behalf. Better yet, let's pray that this company goes bankrupt, and these rear ends end up looking for a job. Vengeance is mine sayth the Lord. This has happened at two of my old workplaces that I quit.

Seek professional advice from an Attorney. File a Lawsuit against this Boss. Should you not he/she will continue on with the abuse to another employee or new employee. This is very wrong what your boss has done and it needs to be stopped immediately. I assure you tell no one what you are planning to do in regards to an attorney. Know within your own self this is going to end soon and when other employees are summoned arrive to appear in court, they will not lie for their boss, otherwise they go to jail or community service. No one is going to risk that. Perhaps your attorney could drop by your work place undercover, watch for himself what goes on. I assure you 2 weeks may sound long but you can do it. Put your mind elsewhere, control your thoughts and emotions. Truly it sounds like your boss is trying everything possible to get you to leave even sooner. That's ok because soon enough you will be gone. Just think ahead to the day that is your last..the greatest day in your life ahead. Don't say anything like, it was a pleasure working here or anything good like that on your last day..just say goodbye. Do get a Lawyer..don't allow this person to get away with this, please. Your self worth is more than what has been shown to you. Don't be afraid..do what is right, see a Lawyer. God Bless You.

Count down the days and be grateful your are getting out of there. Then sue.

sue him

Leave and afterwards sue. Get an attorney specializing in workplace harassment NOW and have him send them a notice. Also, take a tape or digital recorder with you and record the verbal abuse (in good quality) while still there. You'll need some proof.

There is an article doing the rounds on the net that has top search engine placement. The article source box. This article gives you some techniques and understanding in dealing with this type of thing. Don't ever forget the legal ramifications of your boss and once he is put on notice two things are going to go, either his behavior or you. Step step wisely.
